Emily Kaiser

Emily is Strategic Advisor to EARTH’s President and led the launch of EARTH Futures from 2018 to 2021. She is a senior executive of partnerships, philanthropy, and sustainable development with over 20 years experience working with foundations and civil society leaders throughout Latin America and the United States. Before joining EARTH, Emily worked for 12 years in leadership and executive roles at Fundación Avina, one of the largest foundations in Latin America. Emily resides in the United States and has spent 15 years living in Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

Pedro Chinchilla
Show Bio
Pedro, from Costa Rica, works as Operations Technician for the Nurturing the Future IV project. His passion for agriculture led him to train as an agricultural technician at the Technical High School in the city of Acosta. He is currently pursuing a degree in Agronomic Engineering with an emphasis on Phytotechnology at the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) in Costa Rica. With the goal of putting his knowledge into practice, Pedro founded De La Parcela, a citrus production venture in Cangrejal town in Acosta. This initiative allows him not only to share fresh, high-quality products but also contributes to the development of his community. In the Nurturing the Future IV project, he is applying his skills to promote sustainable agricultural practices and support entrepreneurship to improve production systems.

Celeste works as a Technical Assistant for EARTH Futures Projects. She graduated from the Professional Technical High School of Liberia with a degree in Agroecology. Celeste currently participates in the Walmart Project, providing technical support to farmers from seven Costa Rican organizations in the Northern Region, the Caribbean, and Guanacaste. She also helps train community youth, encouraging new generations to become farmers.

Mónica Herrera

Mónica is a Technical Assistant in the Nurturing the Future IV project. She is an Agricultural Accounting Assistant and an Agricultural Administrative Assistant and holds a degree in Agricultural Marketing and Social Projects from the Latin American Institute of Social Sciences. Originally from Vara Blanca, Heredia, Costa Rica, Mónica has a strong passion for sustainable agriculture and animal production management. She has worked in these fields providing advisory services to dairy farms in artificial insemination, aiming to promote animal welfare and reproduction. She also has experience advising female entrepreneurs on establishing their businesses in the market. In the past, she has held positions in administration, quality control, marketing, and social media.

Gustavo Moreno Prendas
Show Bio
Gustavo, Coordinator for the Costa Rica arm of Nurturing the Future IV, is a project manager and an agroecologist at heart. He has 16 years of experience in developing food production projects that apply agroecological principles. Most of his career has been dedicated to administrative management and technical advisory roles in agricultural, agroforestry, and cooperative producer associations. He has led projects on climate change adaptation and mitigation, good agricultural practices, and sustainable local supply chains. He has also coordinated university extension programs, promoting regenerative practices. Gustavo holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering with an emphasis on Irrigation and Drainage from the Universidad Técnica Nacional de Costa Rica (UTN).

Alondra works as an Administrative Assistant at EARTH Futures. She earned an Executive Secretarial degree at the Professional Technical High School of Guácimo, Costa Rica and is pursuing a university degree in administrative sciences, economics, and accounting.

José is from Guatemala. He has a background in marketing and is passionate about combining marketing tools with the potential of rural organizations dedicated to agricultural and artisanal production. For more than 7 years, he has worked alongside rural communities, especially at Lake Atitlán. During this work he has promoted responsible, sustainable and competitive socioeconomic practices, both from supply and demand. He is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Agribusiness Management at the University of Costa Rica, where he applies innovative and sustainable strategies to promote the growth and resilience of communities from a business perspective.
