What is EARTH University?
EARTH is a private, non-profit, global university located in Costa Rica founded in 1986 with the support of the Costa Rican government, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. EARTH’s mission is to prepare leaders with ethical values to contribute to sustainable development and to build a prosperous and just society.
What degrees does EARTH University offer?
The University offers a rigorous four-year undergraduate program in Agricultural Sciences that provides an education with a solid scientific and technical foundation and emphasizes ethical values, entrepreneurship, and environmental and social commitment.
How do I apply to study at EARTH?
Go to the Admissions page and fill out the online form. You will then receive an email with more details about the admissions process. An Admissions Officer will contact you to guide you through the steps to apply.
Where is the University located?
EARTH University has two campuses in Costa Rica. Our main campus is located in Guácimo in the Caribbean province of Limón (Guácimo Campus). Our other campus is located in Liberia in the Northern Pacific province of Guanacaste (Daniel Oduber Quirós Campus).
Do I need to take an entrance exam?
Yes. You must take an Academic Aptitude Test (or Admissions exam) as part of your admission process. After sending your application request with the requirements, and if you are pre-selected, your Admissions Officer will let you know the place and date to take the Test.
How many students are admitted annually?
We typically admit about 120 students per year.
How can I get a scholarship?
To apply for a scholarship, you must first go through the University’s admissions process. Visit our Admissions page and fill out the online form to receive more details about the process.
How much does it cost to study at EARTH?
EARTH University subsidizes a large part of the education costs for its students. The monthly tuition cost as well as student services, housing, meals, and medical insurance represents only a portion of the total annual cost. To see the current cost, click here.
How much does it cost to apply to EARTH?
There is no cost to apply to EARTH University.
Do you validate courses?
Due to the uniqueness of our educational model and curriculum, EARTH University does not recognize or validate courses from other institutions.

Where does my contribution go to?
The contributions the University receives go to the EARTH Scholarship Fund, which we use to support the education of approximately 80% of the student population from countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas.
