Physiological Processes and Postharvest Systems
Carlos is a professor of Physiological Processes and Postharvest Systems at EARTH University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from the Universidad Nacional de Agricultura (UNAG, Honduras), a Master in Agricultural Sciences degree in Agroindustrial Production from the University of Chile, and a Ph.D. in Plant Production from São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil), specializing in postharvest physiology and technologies.
His academic career encompasses undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and university administration. He has contributed to the education of professionals at universities in Honduras, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil through teaching and evaluation of theses. At UNAG, he served as Deputy Director of Research and Dean of the Faculty of Technological Sciences.
Carlos’s scientific and professional work focus is on postharvest physiology and preservation, storage technologies, cold chain management, and fruit and vegetable quality. He has authored and co-authored international scientific publications and technical publications focused on the practical application of scientific knowledge. He also works with companies and producers in the fruit and vegetable sector, applying research to evaluate and improve processes aimed at maintaining quality, extending shelf life, and reducing postharvest losses.
In his teaching, he combines scientific principles with experimentation and the analysis of real-world situations, encouraging students to develop the technical judgment needed to understand processes and make informed decisions.
